Join us for the 3rd BILS Rockland Retreat and Book Fair in 285 Hungry Hollow Road, Chestnut Ridge, NY. July 26 – 27, 2025. Immerse yourself in a celebration of literature, culture, and community with inspiring literary sessions, cultural performances, outdoor activities, and heartfelt connections.

Explore bookstalls, enjoy Bengali Pitha, and participate in poetry slams, recitations, and more. This retreat is a unique blend of creativity, nature, and collaboration!

7:00 to 9:30 pm: Volunteer and donor reception and dinner.

Saturday, July 26, 2025

Pre-Conference Activities

10:00 to 10:30 am: Get Fit and Tiana with Gyana. Body tuning and stretching under the tree with Gyana Mella. Relieve stress, get into shape to enjoy the program with greater energy and concentration. Please wear relaxing clothes.

10:35 to 11:30 am: Hike with Josh or Mike through the woods. You can enjoy the serene beauty of the woods in the countryside, take a rest whenever you want, and jot down your best thoughts. Do not forget to ask Mike Sweeney about bee farming on your way, and the adaptive pull-ups up the hill. Bring your hiking shoes.

11:35 to 12:00 noon: Yoga with Ora and Make life Bora Bora. Enjoy Hatha Yoga with Ora Sucov, an experienced yoga instructor and meditation expert. Six to eight in groups on the green grass surrounded by shrubs and trees under the blue sky.

12:15 to 12:45 pm: Farm tour. Stroll through the farm where you can see the grazing cows, and horses, and may catch a glimpse of flying birds or grazing deer.

12:30 to 2:00 pm: Swimming. Bring your bathing gear and enjoy swimming in the outdoor pond with a manufactured beach and taste the ambiance of the sun and shade.

1:30 to 2:30 pm: Going to set up the tent if you are registered for camping, or to designated room to get ready for the main event.

Registration and Accommodation

Event Attendance & Participation Registration Fees:

  • Free for the public to attend: no ticket required. Participation free for Threefold Community and special needs participants, with registration encouraged.
  • Local audience: Participation for the local audience: $75 per person, $125 per couple, or $200 per family, however, $50 will be returned upon arrival to the person/couple/family to buy books and crafts (by Endeavor 21+) on the premises. This fee includes meals, snacks, and beverages. Children under 10-year-old join for free.
  • Out-of-area participants (Requiring Accommodation): $150 per person, $200 per couple, or $300 per family includes one-night accommodation, three meals, snacks, and beverages. They shall receive a $50 coupon/ person/ family to buy books and crafts on the premises.
  • International participants: Out of the USA participants require no registration fees. The participants shall receive two nights of accommodation and food, and local transportation; however, they are encouraged to buy books and crafts on the premises (at least $50 per person). Pre-registration is required.
  • Donations: Supporters, any $ amount; Friends, $250; Members, $500; Gold Members, $750; Donors, $1,000; Sponsors, $1,500. Donation of any amount makes the individuals eligible for participation.

Menu:

  • At least ten distinct types of Bengali Pitha (cake), showcasing rich cultural heritage, available during breaks for a nominal price.
  • Meals, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, sourced from the neighboring biodynamic farm at Threefold Community Farm.

Accommodation:

Four options available on a first-come, first-served basis:

  • Marriott Courtyard, 2.3 miles away (book and pay independently).
  • Tent camping 200 steps from the venue, surrounded by woods, deer, fireflies, and soothing brook sounds.
